Track: The Hard Rider rides on. Results, November 11November 13 2010Roger Bade, track tsar, writes: BSCC Track Racing Results Marty Busch Carnival, November 11, 2010 A strong crew of senior riders, a warm and sunny evening, quality racing and even a big crash made for a spectacular night at Marty Busch Reserve. With genuine A and B grade fields for the first time this season, there was tight racing for recent track converts and experienced riders alike. At the top end, Scott Townsend had the power to dominate, but nobody told youngsters Angus Lyons and Liam White, who attached relentlessly all night. Doug Garley, as usual, showed his track nous and dogged determination to stay in the mix right up to the moment when he and Scott collided doing 55 km/h around the top bend. This may have brought a hush on the crowd, but the good news is that Doug is already promising to be back for more next week. (See below. Doug will be spectating for another few weeks. Breathing hard isn't recommended with broken ribs. - ed.) Club officials Don Stewart and Paul Pickersgill turned up for their first night of fixed wheel competition and handled themselves impressively. Will Stewart stepped up from the junior grades to mix it with the best, taking out the B Grade motor pace and refusing to lay down in the big points event, eventually taking 3rd place. In the junior grades the stand outs were Maurice Koelle and Jake Sears, who showed superb bike skills to feature in every race they contested. Click here for Roger's photos from the evening. (There are some rippers! - ed.) Latest on Doug (Saturday 13 Nov): The good news is, Doug is OK. He hit his head, and was seeing stars for a few minutes afterwards, but Dr. Sue Lyons (Angus' mum) was on hand, and there were no complications. Doug broke a few ribs, and lost some skin. He is more upset about the damage to his Belgian skinsuit from the good old days (check it out in Roger's photos), and to his special Selle Italia six-day saddle. Luckily his magic Dugast tyres were unscathed, and another six-day nut donated a replacement saddle. So with all this, and no other significant damage to his bike, Doug is in good spirits. Don't tell him any jokes for a few weeks though: laughing hurts. He'll be back on the bike very soon. - ed.
